We are highly qualified dog psychologists and trainers. We specialise in one to one dog training in your own home. We will train both you and your dog, creating a successful relationship between you and providing you with the lifestyle you want. We work close with you to discover the cause of your dog’s behaviour issue. You will be expected to work as hard as your pet, there are no quick fixes.
No two dogs are the same. We tailor all our training to suit your dog, based on their individual circumstances, background, environment, and of course you, their owner. We will teach you techniques to train and discipline your dog, and explain the theory behind them to ensure that you understand how and why our training techniques work.
Dog’s are opportunists, if your dog has the chance to do something that feels good, tastes good or is fun it will grasp that opportunity every time. Dogs do bad things not because they are ‘bad’, but because they have not been taught what is "bad". It is your job as their owner to teach them this.
Even though we want to focus mainly on the good behaviour, you cannot ignore the ‘bad’. All dogs will, at some time or another do some things we don’t like, while it would be ideal if we never needed to correct a dog’s unwanted behaviour it is unrealistic to expect. What is needed is expert training as this is an excellent start for that wanted ‘good’ behaviour.
POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT, NOT PUNISHMENT
Dogs learn to change their behaviour by experience, as responsible dog owners, you should try to make as many of these experiences as pleasant as you can and one of the best ways to guarantee this is to train using only ‘Positive Reinforcement’ and not ‘Punishment’. For example, if your puppy is sat happily playing on your lap and suddenly starts to bite, put the puppy on the floor, stop all playing and do not respond to your dogs attempts to get your attention. He will soon learn that everything, especially fun stops when he bites.
